May 8, 2025 – In celebration of Construction Safety Week 2025, GCON partnered with United Rentals to host an MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform) Best Practices Safety Event at the construction site of GCON’s future Phoenix headquarters.
Open to all GCON project teams, field staff, and subcontractor partners, this interactive event highlighted GCON’s ongoing commitment to elevating safety standards, building a proactive safety culture, and empowering every worker to be a safety leader.
“Elevating safety means sharing knowledge and inviting everyone to be a part of the conversation,” said Kyle King, GCON’s Vice President of High-Tech. “We wanted to make this event specific and informative—because when we learn together, we perform safer.”

Hands-On Safety Demonstrations with Certified Trainers
With certified trainers from United Rentals on-site—including the Territory Manager, Branch Manager, and Operations Manager—attendees gained firsthand knowledge of safe lift operation procedures. Demonstration equipment included:
Telescopic Boom Lift
7,000 lb Telehandler Forklift
18-19ft Scissor Lift
Training topics covered essential safety protocols such as:
Performing a 360-degree hazard observation before and during MEWP use
Practicing three points of contact when entering/exiting machinery
Reviewing the latest OSHA lanyard safety requirements
Guidance on United Academy’s Core 4 Safety Certifications
Participants received field-ready tools including jobsite safety checklists and OSHA compliance handouts to implement what they learned on-site and at the branch level.

Setting the Standard for Safety
GCON believes that safety is more than a practice—it is a culture. Everyone is responsible for creating a safe environment for each other, for our partners and for our clients. This culture is built by the following:
Leadership That Listens | GCON leadership is accessible and engaged, creating a culture of trust where team members feel comfortable raising concerns and asking questions.
Continuous Improvement | As one of GCON’s core values, we are driven to learn, advance and refine. We listen to our people, talk to our trade partners and approach every experience as an opportunity to achieve excellence—checking ego at the door.
- People Over Projects | GCON believes that healthy projects come from a healthy workforce. Mental health support is prioritized, including access to on-site counseling services available to all team members.

United for Safety: Over 200 Attendees Participate
With over 200 GCON employees and trade partners in attendance, the MEWP Best Practices event marked a major success during Safety Week 2025.
“The turnout shows a shared commitment and initiative to prioritizing safety,” said Shawn Rosenberger, GCON’s Chief Risk Officer. “This is just the beginning—next year we’re planning a full-scale safety fair. Mark your calendars for Safety Week 2026!”
